February 28, 2009

We have arrived in Inawashiro in the meantime where the World Championships will take place on monday the 2nd. It is really great to be in Japan again, food is always good and people are really friendly.

Trying to read the signs on the hill we discovered a funny chair lift here the first day :)

Branäs Final

Branäs Semifinal

Branäs, Sweden

February 23, 2009

We have a lot of people working around us and helping us the whole year- physios, coaches, servicemen… They have part of our success but you never really see them on TV or in newspapers.

Today I feel it is time to introduce you to our man of the day here in Branäs: FRED our serviceguy in the Saab-Salomonteam. He did an amazing job with the skis today.  We finished 1st and 2nd on both women’s and men’s qualification (Lars, Tomas, Ophe and me)!!! Check the qualificationresults here ->

3rd in Voss

February 20, 2009

Surprise! Yesterday the race could take place in Voss. The conditions really, really difficult (very bumpy, big holes in the course AND bad visibility) so in fact I’m happy that I ended the race in one piece.
The final run was chaotic! I had a good start and was fighting for the 1st position when I suddenly hit a hole and crashed. Nothing happened to me and i could finish the run with some delay. Ashleigh McIvor who was leading at this time lost her ski in one of the bumps and crashed as well so I managed pass her on the way down and end in 3rd position. Ophelie David was the really lucky winner in the end. Crazy day!

Great day for the austrian skicross team 2nd and 3rd place on both women’s and men’s side!

Voss, Norway

February 18, 2009

After a couple of days off  the season continues in Voss Norway. It feels like the season is coming to its end but in fact we have only had 5 of 10 races- so still a lot to do! Today i was skiing without painkillers and without pain for the first time since 4 weeks. My heels seemed to like this days off and I’m soo happy.
The qualification was not so bad for me today as I finished 4th with a not really perfect run.

The weather conditions here have been very difficult in the last days so the training yesterday could not be held and the organisation here has difficulties to get out the snow in the course. We’ll hoep the best for tomorrow.

I’ll cross my fingers!

Home sweet home

February 18, 2009

5 days at home in the middle of the season feels very luxurious. After the looong trip to the US and Canada it was time for me to recharge my batteries!
The cool thing was that I even cought one day of powderskiing up on Seegrube :)

BEAUTIFULL!!!

Home :)

Cypress/ Canada

February 10, 2009

The race in Cypress/ Vancouver was cool! It was the test event for the Olympics next year. The course was not easy but looked really good. Beside some difficulities in the organisation (skirooms,…) Vancouver seems to be ready for 2010.

The raceday was the day of the Canadian’s. Seemed like they had been training a lot on this course because they really dominated! Men’s top 3 and womens 1st and 2nd place went to Canada. Luckily I came 3rd :) I was really happy with this result as it was a tough final.

Women’s final: 1. Aleisha Cline, 2. Ashleigh McIvor, 3. Karin Huttary, 4. Ophelie David

Men’s final: 1.Christopher Del Bosco, 2. Stanley Hayer, 3. Davey Barr, 4. Tomas Kraus

San Francisco is different

February 1, 2009

…from many cities in the US. I simply love San Fran. Had the great opportunity to spend a couple of days there after X-Games. It turned out to be 4 days of sunshine, warmth and big city life. Thats the change I needed after spending 20 days in a row in skiboots.
