X-Games

January 27, 2009

X-Games are over now and for me it ended yesterday with a little bit of dissappointment. After winning the Semifinal with the best girls in my heat I didn’t have a chance in the final… i really don’t know what exactly happened but it was a mix of unlucky circumstances. Whatever… I ended on 5th place wich I’m not happy about. On the other hand I’m happy that  I didn’t end in hospital with a broken pelvis as last year!

Ophelie David won the women’s race while Staney Hayer managed to win the men’s competition. Congratulations one mor time :) well done!

We already left Aspen and I’ll have 3 days off in San Francisco now before going to Vancouver and Cypress, Canada for the next race. That are the first days off since the beginning of January and I’ll enjoy it!

Raceday Lake Placid

January 21, 2009

2 days ago we had the race in Lake Placid. Unfortunatly I had a crash in the Semifinal while I was passing one girl- too fast skis, too much speed ;) In the small final 3 minutes later I was still shaking and had a hard time to focus for the last run of the day… the result was a 6th place and in the end of the day I was happy to end in one piece.

Ophelie David won the women’s race and Lars Lewen was the fastest guy this day. More details on the FIS site.

Now we have been moving on to Aspen for the X-Games. Today we’ll have the 1st inspection and training. I’m expecting a long, exciting and difficult course here… we’ll see!

Lake Placid

January 18, 2009

I arrived here in Lake Placis 2 days ago after traveling for 40hours… missed connection flights and everything just went wrong BUT now I’m here. We had the qualification today and I’m happy with my 4th place. The race tomorrow will be exciting because there are a lot of possibilities to pass on this course. We’ll se…

3rd place in Flaine!

January 15, 2009

After a couple of tough days with my heel I managed to race yesterday AND ended up with a 3rd place. In the semifinal as well as in the final I was able to pass in one of the turns on the inside. I’m really proud today that I was able to perform that well under this circumstances!

Thanks to the physical therapy and the great work of Salomon who made this special foam – sole for my heel this result was possible.

Today the whole World Cup circuit is moving on to Lake Placid where the next event will take place in a couple of days.

I’ll keep you updated!

World Cup in Flaine, France

January 13, 2009

Today we had the qualification for the race in Flaine (14.Jan.). I was soo happy to be able to ski at all with my aching heel after the bad landing in les Contamines. The sole of my skiboot was rebuilt at the Salomon factory in Annecy. With my new soft sole and some painmedicin I was able to finish 8th today. The course is quite soft and he organisation very french- chaos ;)

Results as usual on the FIS website!
RACE TOMORROW!!! I hope for the best!

World Cup in Les Contamines

January 10, 2009

In les Contamines I was less lucky than in Tignes 2 days ago. I hit a roller really badly in the qualification so I was close to crash. As a result of this I had a lot of pain in my heel today and couldn’t compete in the finals. The good news is that nothing is broken and I hope to ski in a couple of days again.

The women’s race was won by Hedda Berntsen. Andi Matt won the men’s competition. For more detailed results check out the FIS website!

Winner of Tignes Airwaves…

January 8, 2009

…is: Karin Huttary :)
I’m really happy that I was able to win this race the 2nd year in a row and it was an thrilling final! Ophelie David leading from the beginning but I was able to pass her on the finishline! The course was a little bit like a X-Games course with more turns and really a lot of fun to ski.

The men’s competition was won by my Saab- Salomon team mate Lars Lewen! Check out more details…Tignes Final
